Description
Taken at Stones River National Battlefield and its adjacent cemetery in early March of 2012, when the wildflowers, grasses and trees were just starting to come out of their winter dormancy. Stones River National Battlefield is a beautiful place to visit any time of the year, and is fully handicapped accessible, which meant a great deal to me as I am disabled myself, and wouldn't have been able to get these photographs otherwise. The titles of the photographs come from the poem “Bivouac of the Dead” by Theodore O’Hara, which can be read at various stations around the cemetery.

He really looks like he's staring me down. The statue already looks so real, but it looks like you just gave that guardian the power of flight.
